Qlipha Calculator

On the day you were born, each of the seven classical luminaries stood in a sign of its own. Every sign has a ruler, every ruler casts a shadow onto the Dark Tree, and that shadow is a Qlipha. The luminaries do not weigh the same: the Sun counts five, the Moon four, Mercury, Venus and Mars three each, Jupiter and Saturn two each, twenty-two weights in all. Your leading shell is the one that gathered the most of them.

This is the same rule the archive's paid readings use, and it is the same code that runs it. This page used to reckon differently, from the Sun alone, which is why on a quarter of all dates it named a shell other than the one a purchased reading would name. That split is now closed.

Longitudes come from an ephemeris rather than from the calendar: the Sun enters a sign when it enters it, not on the twenty-first, and the moment drifts by more than a day from year to year.
The page never asks for your hour of birth, so the Ascendant takes no part in the count. Without a time it does not exist.
